The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Shannon McCarthy as the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Karen Polensky and John McCarthy of Carlisle and a senior at Carlisle High School. Shannon's scholastic achievements and outstanding leadership have earned her this recognition.
She has a passionate interest in music theater and choral performance. Shannon is ranked second in her class amid a heavy workload of honors courses. She plans to continue her education at the college level.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Alyssa Jones (pictured) as the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Tina and Albert Jones of Newville and a senior at Big Spring High School. Alyssa's scholastic achievements and outstanding leadership have earned her this recognition.
She currently serves as the V.P. of the Student Council and as a student representative on the Big Spring School Board of Directors. She is a varsity letter winner in swimming, diving and track, and works part-time as a lifeguard.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Ellie Stuart (pictured) as the April Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Jerome and Sandra Stuart of Carlisle and a senior at Carlisle High School. Ellie received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community.
Her numerous activities include National Honor Society, Crossroads Club, Titanic Musical Orchestra, and the Marching Band Mallet Percussion Section which she was leader of this past fall. She is involved in many community activities through her church, First United Methodist and the Bosler Library. In her downtime she enjoys music, especially playing the piano, and photography.
Ellie plans to attend Messiah College and study Plant Biology and/or Environmental Science. The Rotary Club of Carlisle congratulates Ellie on all of her achievements and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Olivia Brandt (pictured) as the March Student of the Month. She is a senior at Big Spring High School and the daughter of Ms. Karen Brandt and Mr. Jay Brandt of Newville.
Miss Brandt is a member of the National Honor Society, varsity field hockey team and the manager of the wrestling team. She also tutors elementary school students. She plans to attend either James Madison University or Penn State University to continue her studies to pursue a career as a physician assistant.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Timothy Loney (pictured) as the January Student of the Month. He is the son of Tim and Nancy Loney and a senior at Carlisle High School.
Timothy is co-captain of the Varsity Wrestling Team, plays the Bari Saxophone in the Symphonic Band, is a member of the National Honor Society, participates in Keystone Boys' State, and attended the U. S. Military Academy's Summer Leadership Seminar. He is also an Eagle Scout, Adult Leader of Boy Scout Troop 173 and is a Mary Queen of Peace usher.
In Timothy's spare time he enjoys traveling, grappling, wrestling, weightlifting and science. He plans to attend either the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and has been accepted there or the University of Notre Dame as an ROTC cadet. He then plans to attend medical school to become an Army surgeon. The Rotary Club of Carlisle congratulates Timothy on all of his achievements and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

She is the daughter of Steve and Mary Ann Weingarten of Newville and a senior at Big Spring High School. The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Rachel Fishman (pictured) as the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Fishman of Carlisle and a senior at Carlisle High School. Rachel’s scholastic achievements and outstanding leadership have earned her this recognition.
Her numerous activities include National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Interact Club, Tutoring, Model U. N., and Class Council. She is a part of many community activities through the Interact Club and volunteers at Project Share. Internships through the United Way and the Red Cross Youth Council have kept Rachel very busy. Rachel enjoys writing, photography, and taking piano lessons.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Dru Kepner(pictured) as the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Dwayne and Deb Kepner, Carlisle PA and a senior at Big Spring High School. Dru received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community.
Her numerous activities include participation in various musical groups and she has been on the varsity basketball team since she was a freshman. She is in the top ten percent of her classand is active in her church youth group and praise choir. Dru will be attending Messiah College after graduation to study music education. The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored Brooke Strayer(pictured) as the May Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Paul and Laurie Strayer of Boiling Springs and a senior at Boiling Springs High School. Brooke received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both her school and community.
Her numerous activities include Interact Club, SADD Club, Student Council, Band, Amnesty International, Spanish Club and she is the Wrestling Manager. She is involved in many community activities through the Interact Club. She has completed mission trips to Haiti, worked at the Soup Kitchen and participated in Compassion in Action. When she has a free moment, Brooke enjoys collecting old coins, outdoor activities, and reading.
Brooke plans to attend college in the fall and major in Secondary History Education with a Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. The Rotary Club of Carlisle congratulates Brooke on all of her achievements and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

The Carlisle Rotary Club recently honored Kendra Bitner as the March Student of the Month. Kendra was presented with a certificate and a check for $75.00. She is the daughter of Karen and Paul Bitner, of Newville.
As a senior at Big Spring High School, Kendra is ranked second in her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Vice President of her Class, Student Council member, Honors Choir and participates in two sports.
In addition to these school activities, Kendra has received the Citizenship Award and works as a lifeguard. After graduation, she will be attending Lycoming College and plans to major in corporate communications.

The Rotary Club of Carlisle recently honored KaRon Spriggs-Bethea as the January Student of the Month. He is a senior at Carlisle High School and has been class president for the last three years. KaRon received this recognition for exhibiting outstanding leadership, service, and scholastic achievement to both his school and community.
His numerous activities include prom committee, homecoming activities, and senior class trip to New York City. His enthusiasm and compassion are two of his fine character qualities. He has spearheaded a successful school-wide blood drive and raised money to purchase gifts for a family in need during the holiday season.
KaRon’s leadership abilities were recognized with his selection by the faculty to attend Keystone Boys State last summer. He has volunteered at Bosler Library and has tutored students at Mooreland Elementary School.
He is an honor roll student balancing his studies and school activities with a part-time job at Wendy’s. KaRon plans to major in political science with the goal of becoming a lawyer. The Rotary Club of Carlisle congratulates KaRon on all his achievements and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
